"Keep It Coming: "We Must Not Only Feed Our Soldiers at the Front But Millions of Women & Children Behind Our Lines" Gen. John J Pershing. ...Waste Nothing." United States Food Administration. 1918. Original U.S. World War I poster by George Illian (1894-1932) and printed by F. W. Powers, its name appears at bottom. Poster size is 29” H x 21” W, plus frame. The scene is a convoy of Army trucks, with the word “food” on their sides, being directed by soldiers, in a snowy, winter environment. The U.S. Food Administration was established during World War I to administer food reserves for the US Army overseas and its allies; and to control commodity prices for wheat and other needed foodstuffs. Illian’s work is to encourage Americans to send as much food as possible to the Army, through stewardship. General John J Pershing (1860-1948) was commander of all U.S. Armies in WW I. This poster is in very good condition. It has two small stains, which you may see in the pictures attached. It was professionally framed about 35 years ago, with acid-free paper backing. George John Illian was a painter, woodcutter and illustrator and teacher of disabled veterans.

Wir Helfen der Deutschen Luftfahrt (We Support German Aviation). One of a kind set of four artist proofs for what are believed to be Nazi German air mail or revenue stamps. Each print measures 21”H x 15”W. The plain rectangle on each appears to be for a monetary denomination. Artist is unknown. Purchased in Germany in 1974. Professionally framed about 35 years ago. Original German matting, which may be 80+ years old. Rendered in colored pencil and poster paint/water color paint. Some paint has chipped off. All contain the Swastika and are hand dated 1935, when Hitler had been in office two years and was still establishing his power base. This is a one of a kind set developed four years before the start of World War II, intended to energize popular support for the Nazi government and movement and repudiate the limits of the Versailles Treaty to end World War I. They are sold as a set of four only.
