Straight razor. Chas. Adam Rochester, NY fancy aluminum handled razor having raised winged Goddess on winged wheel. "Faultless" on tang and pile side of handle with raised alligator. Lots of scroll. Having two of these in the same auction might make them look more common. But, for those collecting for a while, you know how rare these are. Part of the challenge is that I have been buying fancy and unusual razors since I was 16 and now I just circled the sun for the 64th time!

Straight razor. A fabulous silver mounted, carved six panel mother of pearl handle with German silver escutcheon plate. Blade has been cleaned and maybe ground to hollow ground at a later time, or, a replacement. Handle dates to 1820-30. Thankfully, someone saved it. Nonetheless, it is an awesome handle. This razor was illustrated on page 29 of my 1980 book "Straight Razor Collecting."

Straight razor. Warranted Cast Steel. 18thC, perhaps 1760+. Unusually shaped blade with rounded point attached to a straight one piece wood handle having beveled perimeter. Iron pins and pin covers. Wood handles are extremely rare. I am not sure if this is an early folk art handmade replacement, or original. My guess is that they have been together for at least 150 year, if not the entire time.

Straight razor. Clark & Hall Warranted C-1810. Mottled horn front side with matching, shaped, replacement wood pile side. Again, some craftsman went through a lot of trouble at the time to save his shaving tool that would last him his lifetime as well that of his son and grandson. The original hardware was used to reassemble. A rarity.
