Antique 19th Century Ch'ing Dynasty Chinese Mandarin Dragon Robe in remarkable condition. A card accompanies this robe dated 1989 and states that the robe was purchased for $1200. The card reads: "This robe features the five clawed Lung Dragon and other motifs including: clouds, bats of happiness, and the Eight Treasures. The five clawed Dragon was the symbol of the Emperor and only he could wear it. The Lung Dragon is the most powerful of Dragons and inhabits the sky. The color purple is the color of literati or educated persons. Truly the robe of a great ruler!" it measures 77" wide and 52" T. The bottom is 34.5" across. It has all of its vermeil buttons ( gold plated over silver) and gold thread. There is hardly any damage or wear at all. The back has the same images as the front. right bedroom.
