Antique Tiffany & Co. cigarette lighter and cutter marked "Tiffany & Co sterling 572" affixed to horn 10.75"L. Tiffany & Company is an internationally respected American silver manufacture founded in 1837 in New York City by Charles Louis Tiffany and partner John B. Young. The company did not start as a jewelry and silver shop, but as a provider of stationery and fancy goods under the name Tiffany & Young. In 1841, J. L. Ellis joined the firm as a partner changing the name to Tiffany, Young & Ellis. 14 years later both Young and Ellis retired, giving Charles Tiffany control of the company changing the name to Tiffany & Company.
