Straight Razor Auction Ending 5/21

After 50+ years of collecting straight razors, Robert A. Doyle will be offering at auction his life-time collection of fancy and unusual straight razors. Doyle, an Auctioneer/Appraiser/Real Estate Broker, started collecting at 16 years of age and has just turned sixty-seven. When asked why straight razors? Doyle responded, "They are small, beautiful, historic, one-of-a-kind artistic pieces that are nearly impossible to reproduce. There are no "fakes" to be concerned with." He continued, "It is time to allow others the opportunity to own and enjoy these beautiful shaving tools. The straight razor was the most prized personal tool of men through the ages." Preview is available by appointment at Absolute Auction Center Monday - Friday from 9AM-4PM or online 24 hours.

Copies of the book, Celluloid Handle Guide for Straight Razor Collectors, Reflecting on Fifty Years of Handle Designs (1870-1920) are available.

Payment is due by Wednesday, May 23 at 1PM.

Pickup in Pleasant Valley, NY must be completed by Friday, May 25 at 3PM.

#80 – Straight razor. Graef & Schmidt J.A. Henkels Solingen Germany hollow ground blade. The fancy aluminum handle features a unique scroll and floral pattern throughout the front and pile sides. Figural cast aluminum handled straight razors are quite rare as aluminum was a new and expensive alloy at the time these Art Nouveau razors were manufactured. This would have been the top of their line for this maker.

Straight razor. Graef & Schmidt J.A. Henkels Solingen Germany hollow ground blade. The fancy aluminum handle features a unique scroll and floral pattern throughout the front and pile sides. Figural cast aluminum handled straight razors are quite rare as aluminum was a new and expensive alloy at the time these Art Nouveau razors were manufactured. This would have been the top of their line for this maker.
