After 50+ years of collecting straight razors, Robert A. Doyle will be offering at auction his life-time collection of fancy and unusual straight razors. Doyle, an Auctioneer/Appraiser/Real Estate Broker, started collecting at 16 years of age and has just turned sixty-seven. When asked why straight razors? He continued, "It is time to allow others the opportunity to own and enjoy these beautiful shaving tools. The straight razor was the most prized personal tool of men through the ages." Preview is available by appointment at Absolute Auction Center Monday - Friday from 9AM-4PM or online 24 hours.

Straight Razor. “Frontier” on tang. “J. J. Lang & Co. Baltimore. MD. Made in Germany” on back of tang. Very ornate aluminum handle. This is the only one by this maker I have ever seen. Front side of cast handle has a woman standing on a winged Wheel. The pile side has  “Frontier” and “J. J. Lang & Co. Baltimore. MD.” Raised with scroll. figural cast aluminum handled straight razors are quite rare as aluminum was a new and expensive alloy at the time these Art Nouveau razors were popular. This would have been the top of their line for this maker.

Straight Razor. H. Boker & Co. The blade is etched “H. Boker & Co. EXTRA HOLLOW GROUND.” I do not see a “Sterling” mark. However, I am fairly confident that this is a silver handled Razor as I have seen this pattern on other razors that were marked. Perhaps it is on the inside of the scales. But, please preview to judge for yourself.

7-Day Set of Straight Razors having one regular size handle with seven interchangeable blades fitted in a leather covered wood case. C-1810-25. In gold inside the purple satin detached lid “Hawksley 300 Oxford St. London.” This is a very rare and unique set having a genuine tortoiseshell handle with gold head cap and gold shield shaped escutcheon on both sides. The gold embossed tang with tang extension is part of the full length handle that each blade locks into. “Bizos” is embossed on the tang. Complete. One-of-kind, high-end, most likely a presentation gift. These one Handled seven day sets are extremely rare and were produced for a very short period of time, approximately 1820-1840. Further, each locking device is numbered to correspond with the specific shaped tang that fits it. You could not lock these blades into the handle of any other similar set.
