Straight razor. Van Camp Hdwe & Iron Co. Indianapolis, Indiana. The fancy, figural imitation ivory celluloid handle boasts the rare pattern of Ben Hur Chariot Race. This razor handle pattern is #20 in the book "Celluloid Handle Guide for Straight Razor Collectors Reflecting on Fifty Years of Handle Designs (1870-1920)" By Robert A. Doyle. Rare. This razor was featured by Kurt Moe in "THE RAZOR ANTHOLOGY" book on page 112 of his article titled VAN CAMP HARDWARE. (THE RAZOR ANTHOLOGY: A collection of selected articles about razors reprinted from monthly issues of Knife World. Copyright 1995 Knife World Publications. Illustrated, 246 pages. Straight razor. RobT. Smith Warranted. Super rare "select horn" handle on this late 18thC Revolutionary War Period Razor. Kurt Moe Bought this rare piece at Auction out of my personal collection. You have another opportunity to buy it! This Handle material is the rarest that you will find in an early Razor. I have witnessed four, including the folding straight razor carried by the Duke of Marlborough. All four that I have encountered over the past 50 years, I kept. You will search for many years and most likely will never find one. I do not know why this "select horn" is so rare. It must have been extremely hard to find this kind of grain on a single horn.

Straight razor. Illegible. The natural material handle is decorated with a scene of buildings and words NEWSTEAD ABBEY BYRON. This is the only pattern like this I have seen. Newstead Abbey, in Nottinghamshire, England, was formerly an Augustinian priory. Converted to a domestic home following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it is now best known as the ancestral home of Lord Byron. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newstead_Abbey

Straight razor. I have never seen this razor pattern before and this rarity comes with its original colorful advertising tin flip top container. PANAMERICANA RAZOR COMPANY. The blade is etched THE MONROE RAZOR 7000. The colorful tin case is decorated NAVALHA PANAMERICANA along with MONROE and NEW YORK and RIO DE JANEIRO. NAVALHA translates to "Razor." Therefore this is commemorating the connection between the U.S.A. and Latin America. Monroe means President Monroe and more specifically "The Monroe Doctrine." Definition: The Monroe Doctrine is the best known U.S. policy toward the Western Hemisphere. Buried in a routine annual message delivered to Congress by President James Monroe in December 1823, the doctrine warns European nations that the United States would not tolerate further colonization or puppet monarchs. To make things still better the cast, figural handle material is aluminum! It is fully decorated on both sides. Kurt Moe found some super pieces as he did not get this from me. Good luck.

Straight razor. JOHN LPCWN(?) & Co. COLUMBIA WORKS SHEFFIELD. C-1840's. Great handle of natural material with a wonderful pattern of pique work pins around the inlaid escutcheon shield. Rare. Note: Pique work was the art of inlaying tiny silver pins, by hand, into the predrilled holes of the pattern. It was a cottage industry done in homes around the manufacturing city of Sheffield. This artistry was popular from about 1820-1840's. Pique work was performed on horn, pearl, tortoiseshell, ivory and bone. You will not find two identical pieces. Even the pins are set by hand so they are not even in height.
