Original World War I lithograph 41”H x 31”W. "Fight or Buy Bonds, Third Liberty Loan." Features a beautiful woman as Lady Liberty waving an American flag above US troops marching off to war. It not only inspired patriotism but energized citizens to support the war. The Third Liberty Loan was the largest U.S. fund-raising initiative to that date (1917) and this poster contributed to its success. This lithograph was printed by Forbes of Boston, its name appears at the bottom right. The poster is in excellent condition for 101 years old. It shows only slight wear. It was professionally framed about 35 years ago with a coordinating frame that pulls out the dominant color, mounted on acid-free paper. Howard Chandler Christy (1873-1952) was an American artist and illustrator. He often featured beautiful women in his works, who became known as Christy Girls, and knew how to blend female attractiveness with wartime emotions, to bring out America’s fighting spirit.
