Custom shadow box (16 l/4in. x 11 l/4in.) containing two mounted portions of ancient duge chains and rings. One piece contains a stone. A duge chain is an amulet with great spiritual importance to the Dogon people. It is worn by a hogon or priest. Stones and beads in duge necklaces represent the primordial egg from which the world was created and the original ancestors of the Dogon people. One piece contains a stone. Iron and stone. Iron may have been smelted in Mali. Dogon people, Mali.
