Custom shadow box (16 l/4in. x 11 l/4in.) containing two mounted portions of ancient duge chains and rings. One piece contains a stone. A duge chain is an amulet with great spiritual importance to the Dogon people. It is worn by a hogon or priest. Stones and beads in duge necklaces represent the primordial egg from which the world was created and the original ancestors of the Dogon people. One piece contains a stone. Iron and stone. Iron may have been smelted in Mali. Dogon people, Mali.

Custom shadow box (20 1/4in. x 12 l/4in.) containing three mounted portions of ancient chains, including a 5 in. long bell with a hooked apex, a 12 in. long segment with an old clay bead, stone and small bell, and a 12 in. long segment with two small bells and a stone. A duge chain is an amulet with great spiritual importance to the Dogon people worn by a hogon or priest. Iron, stone and bead. Iron may have been smelted in Mali, Dogon people, Mali.
