Outstanding Louis XV style desk. This desk was purchased from an antique dealer in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1975 for 12,000 Deutschmarks. Bill of Sale reads " Louis XV Desk, ca 1860, inlaid with rosewood, pear wood and Hazelwood. Completely veneered, trimmed with brass facades and ormolu. 3 drawers, original locks and keys. Perfect flawless condition." It is raised on cabriole legs terminating in brass sabots. The desk has ornate floral inlaid throughout showing beautiful woodgrains. There are 3 locking drawers with key. All are original and work. The desk is very sound and in original condition. Some European finishes become crazed when exposed to U.S. climate and there is some in the desktop finish. 3 out of four 3/4" round pieces of veneer on top have popped out. 31.75"H x 67"L x 33.75"D.
