This offering of rare and unusual straight razors comes from the Estate of Kurt Moe of Minnesota. Kurt was an avid collector of straight razors. He was also a personal friend of over forty years. Kurt bought many of these examples from me over the past forty plus years. This is the first session. It contains many unique, one of a kind pieces. His collection is still being unpacked and features straight razors, razor sets, safety razors, barbering items, showcases and more. He and his wife collected other categories of memorabilia including antique toys, banks, tins, soda fountain items and advertising. We will be offering all of these items at auction in upcoming sessions.

Each wedge blade. The International of 1862, or Great London Exposition, was a world's fair. Straight razor. WARBURTON. C-1815. Extremely rare and early pressed Buffalo horn handled razor depicting the full length figures of PLATOFF & BLUCHER, one on each side in detail surrounded by scroll. "From June 6th to the 27th 1814 the Emperor of Russia and the King of Prussia with many dignitaries were in London." It created much historical excitement. Straight razor. SILVER STEEL. C-1830's. Crude whalebone handle with inlaid pique work. Note: Pique work was the art of inlaying tiny silver pins, by hand, into the predrilled holes of the pattern. It was a cottage industry done in homes around the manufacturing city of Sheffield. This artistry was popular from about 1820-1840's. Pique work was performed on horn, pearl, tortoiseshell, ivory and bone. You will not find two identical pieces. Even the pins are set by hand so they are not even in height.
